Upcoming make-up series: Seven Deadly Sins + Four elements
Interesting make-up projects upcoming! Besides more or less normal daylight to beauty-makeups I got also requests for projects which are much more interesing to talk about....for example Im taking part in a series of extreme make-up portraits for the photographer Mandragora (www.mandragora.at) who does especially portrais where the make-up and styling plays a decisive rule. Meanwhile we started to do the Seven Deadly Sins together and we have finished the 4 elements yesterday. To give you an idea what Im taking about, I show you some examples: This is what I have done so far for the Seven Deadly Sins, it is gluttony & pride Model is Mrs. Robin from Germany. ...and one from the goddess cycle - Persephone: Model: Inilicious/Austria I'm so glad that I can participate in these series because my make-up and her photographic style goes so well together that we can produce the desired pictures much faster than with any other make-up artist/photographer.... ...so I'm pretty glad that she likes what I'm doing...=) | | Friday, August 21st, 2009 | | 12:25 pm |
Where are my pictures ?!
I love doing modeling jobs, even the unpaid ones, because I'm doing it mainly for the artistic reason, not for the money....I do it to express myself, to get a stage for acting out a special character and to give others something to look at, t enjoy and to think about it. I'm really into this kind of cooperation, where the photographer uses his knowledge about creating good photographs, his knowledge about lightning, about editing to create a certain atmosphere and my ability to change myself, to make myself into someone else, to give the photographer something he actually can take a picture of...and of course, the best ideas and the best pictures can only emerge from a good cooperation. To make it short, I'm only about to say, that I'm doing the modeling not for the money, but merely for the sake of art. And now there is a thing which is quite annoying: I'm doing tfp-shoots, which means Time For Pictures .... I don't pay the photographer, the photographer doesn't have to pay me, we do it both just for the pictures. And now it has already happened more than three times, that I never geht my pictures back!!! There are photographers, who do a shoot with me, telling me how gorgeous I am and how much they would love to do another shoot with me and then I'm looking forward to the pictures, beeing curious, how they have turned out and then....I never get them ?!?!?! This morning I wrote a message to three photographers who haven't sent me a single pic yet, although the shootings where about...over half a year ago ?! It's not the first time, I contacted them, just asking politely for my pictures, but I never get any answer and I think there is not much hopfe for seeing any of my pictures again.... I'm not complaining about photographers, who maybe have no time at the moment to edit my pics due to lots of work or maybe private problems....if someone tells me, hey, I know you should have got your pics already, but my grandmother died/my girlfriend broke up with me/my dog is sick/I got fired I always told them...hey it's okay, we all have a life, take care and send them later. But well...after about 6 monthes...or more....I'm not that patient anymore, especially if I didn't got anything so far, not even preview pics... Meanwhile I can really, really understand why there are a lot of models who say, that they won't do any unpaid shoots anymore.....if you don't do it for money, you do it for the pics...but if you don't get them anyways.....tell me, where is the reason for the model, to do unpaid shoots ?!?!? Besides...I'm curious...what actually DO photographers with the pics ? The shoot me, because they enjoy photography and they enjoy to show their pieces of work on the internet, on exhibition, maybe in their own studios, enjoy to get comments on them.....so do I....but why do you simply do....nothing with them ? I don't get it. And I'm annoyed. Fortunately most photographers I worked with either gave me the money or the pics. Unforunately it is still annoying if you get NOTHING. Literally, nothing. | | 7:47 am |
<= Certified make-up artist now, yayyyy =)
Last friday I finished my taining as a make-up artist and got full marks of all my final exams (do I call it exams as well in this case ?) To get my certificate I had to do a written exam (which took me two hours to do it °_°) where my formal knowledge on make-up and my ability to think creative, respectibely ORGANIZED creative by presenting an idea for the make-ups and styling for a special-themed runway show, a bodypainting for promotion for a new shop etc....stuff like that. After writing and drawing for two hours my hand was nearly falling of and I handed it in; then wet to pick up my model for the practical make-up exams which took place an hour later. For this examination I had to do three specially themed make-ups in a certain amount of time....the guidelines for the three make-ups where a bit strange, I assume that this was because every make-up was meant to test as much knowledge as possible....but look and see: 1., First make-up: 35 minutes time - Create a Bollywood type of make-up for black/white photography Due to this issue I found out, that these Bollywood make-ups, I always find a bit cheesy, look pretty good in darker colors .... ^^ 2., Second make-up: 30 minutes time - Create an 80ies Barbie look I really had "problems" with this ... since Barbie meant light blues and pinks, especially pastells and model-like faces for me whereas "80ies" are connected with thick eyebrows, pretty much colors, not to say TOO much colors and too much make-up for one face... However, I managed to do it, although the result was horrible from my point of view....not technically, but because BARBIE and 80ies MAKEUP definitely don't go together!!!! However...I managed it. 3., Third make-up: 20 minutes - Create a make-up for the opera ball This was pretty easy for me and I really liked the result....a soft, smokey eyes look with silver glitter liner and nude, shimmery lips....a classy evening look with a bit of glamour but not too much of it. AAAaaaand the winner is......? .....have I already emphasized how proud I am to got full marks in all of those exams ? XDDDDD Now I have not only a certificate, saying that I'm a make-up artist (still can't believe it) bt also saying, that I've passed with distinction, yay =) So for the near future I'll go on practising make-up on as many different faces as possile and will extend my abilities to create hairstyles (and would definitely like to get more skills in special effects). Thanks to all my patient models who let me draw on their faces; thanks especially to Dioxina, whos face was my canvas for my final exam and my canvas for many many different looks before; thanks to Ines for letting me put tons of glittery pigments for editorial looks on her face; thanks Kim for beeing patient while I was teasing her hair, putting tons of decorating stuff in it and Ally for going on an outdoor shoot with too much sun and too much insects (btw...I ned your contact details, so I can send you the pics)...thanks to Tom for letting me practise Drag-Queen-Makeup on his face....^^ Unfortunately I forgot my cam at home, when I did the make-ups mentioned above......another course-participant lend me her cam, so I could take pics, but we forgot to exchange emaladresses, so now I don't know how to get the pics.... Well....maybe I'll find a way. Meanwhile you have to be satisfied just with my descriptions...=) | | Tuesday, June 30th, 2009 | | 8:31 am |

There are no secrets in make-up, there is only professionality
I just did a new make-up video, it's more a making-off than a tutorial, but I think it could count as a tutorial as well, if you know at least some basics about make-up application.... I won't do any step-by-step tutorials anymore, since I realized, that I'm only saying I'll do it but never did it because it takes so much time and I'm not really into doing "simple looks", so I would need lots and lots of explanations if I really do it step-by-step....so I decided to do my "More-inspirational-than-tutorial"-video s instead of doing nothing. Besides, I'm more likely to be an inspiring source for someone than advising someone to do an exact copy of my make-up... As an professional make-up artist said in an interview (can't remeber the name) ... "There are no secrets in make-up, there is only professionality" Don't get me wrong, I'm far away from "professionality", what I'm about to say is just, that I don't keep any special secrets just for me by not doing fully commented tutorials anymore, because there are no secrets...it's just good products and lots and lots of practice. (Still, there is nothing wrong about knowing about different application techniques...) So and here ist is, my "first new" make-up making-of =) | | Tuesday, April 14th, 2009 | | 7:30 pm |

Product Review: MAC Liquidlast Liner Point Black If you're looking for an eyeliner with really really GREAT staying power, than this is definitely worth a try for you. It stays up to 8 hours and longer without flaking, smearing or cracking. and the color is a really deep black. However, with this PRO there comes the CON as well: Its staying power is still there if you don't want it anymore, removing it is kinda hard, especially if you draw on your lower lashline - you have to rub your skin more than you should and it still won't come of as a whole. Besides it takes a long time to dry if you make any mistakes or blink without letting it dry completely - you won't get rid of the mistakes without removing all your make-up. The brush it comes with is not really made for thin lines, but since I'm more on the heavy, dramatic side of make-up, it's not a disadvantage for me. I'll definitely repurchase it, but use it only for drawing my eyebrows on - since it's good to know, that your eyebrows definitely will survive - no matter what you're doing....won't use it on upper & lower lashline because it's such a hassel to get rid of it again on that delicate skin in your eye area. So if you're looking for a liner with great staying poewer that doesn't irritate your eyes - buy it. If you're new to eyeliner and aren't used to it yet - don't buy it, it will annoy the hell out of you. | | Monday, April 6th, 2009 | | 9:50 am |
Mood: shiny
....the sun is shining again, there is no rain or snow or anything unpleasant since three days and I'm pretty happy with it =) So much sunshine makes me feel sleepless in a very positive way, so I was painting on face charts toll 3am today while watching the movie adaption of Terry Pratchetts "The Color of Magic" =) This was, however, the only thing for me to do since I went to an All-you-can-eat-restaurant before and was now waiting for my body to digest all the food I stuffed it with ... ^^ Current Mood: shiny | | Wednesday, April 1st, 2009 | | 9:46 pm |

Booked for three workshops & tomorrow is big shopping day....^^
Ha, booked for three photography-workshops in the next months already yay =) And tomorrow will be an big relaxing shopping day with friends....resp. one friend...;) Will be visiting the Douglas "House of Beauty" in the inner city....shame on me that I've never been to it, me! ...if there is money left in my pocket after it, I'll go to the Make-up Forever store as well...recently I thought that I'm pretty pampered with all those make-up brands around me...I can get MAC, Ben Nye, Make-up forever, Kryolan and Grimas to name just the brands I'm using .... I don't have to order it online, I just go to a local store and buy it....^^ The only thing I'm complaining about is, that there is no Mac Pro-counter in my area...but well. I really shouldn't complain at all....^^ So cya tomorrow with a big shopping haul show-off, miaow =) Current Mood: excited | | Monday, March 30th, 2009 | | 9:04 am |
Party pics & make-up show-offs
Recently I started again to play with various kinds of hairpieces resp. hair-extensions and it's so much fun....and kinda relieving not to destroy my own hair but just plastic hair....;) I already made some dread hairpieces as well as loose ones and never wore them to a shoot....duuh. Simply can't find an outfit that goes well enough with it to satisfy me.... Meanwhile I have just two partypics and some "make-up experiences" to show....my nude pics will follow as soon as I have censored them...since the main part of the web deems nipples evil....;) Reigen, March 2009 Club Burlesque, January 2009 ( Some make-up stuff behind the cut ) | | Sunday, March 22nd, 2009 | | 8:23 pm |

First fully nude shoot + more runners high for me, please!
Yesterday I had my first nude shoot - including just me, my body and light - no shoes, no heavy make-up no...something else.....just pure Lessandes =) I was pleasantly surprise that I feel even completely naked perfectly comfortable...the only thing that I'm not feeling comfortable about is, that I'd definitely need more time to do more sports! Not that I feel too fat or something like that but....now, a day after classic nude posing, my arms and my back is killing me ;) Besides, since I feel much more comfortable and much more AWAKE then normally wehn I do some sports...I'd like to extend that a bit....(.....thinking back to the time when I could run for 90 minutes per day...due to lots of work, just 40 by now *sigh*) ...I'll be happy to present you the pics as soons as possible.....in about 1 oder 2 weeks....=) Current Mood: animated | | Monday, February 23rd, 2009 | | 1:25 pm |

Review: Max Factor - Soft resistant make-up - Light 1 It's a drugstore foundation I bought in the fairest shade two weeks ago, after going through various other foundations without finding such a fair one. Since I'm on the superfair side (...and want to stay there...^^) it's not very easy for me to find the right foundation since the lightest one is always too dark for me. I've been using foundations from GRIMAS and KRYOLAn before, which were matching to my skin, but I had to purchase the GRIMAS one always online and couldn't buy it in a local store - could buy KRYOLAN in a localstore but wasn't very happy with it (will write about that as well). The Max Factor one in "Light" is the palest drugstore foundation I have found, it cost me abozt 16€ which is approximately 22$ (thanks Lucky_Kitty_13 ^^) for 35ml - so it's definitely one of the cheaper ones. It provides good coverage, maybe a little less than the theatrical foundations I have used before, but still enough for me. The consistency is not too thick and not too liquid, so it's quite easy to apply - I used the 187 MAC brush for it. I'd like the foundation to be a little, little bit lighter, but all in all it works well for me and I don't have to go always for the superpale-goth-look - especially when going wto work - still, it IS the palest drugstore foundation I have found (much paler than RIMMELS "Ivory" for example). I used the foundation already two times for work and the longest time I had it on my face was for about 10-11 hours and there was nearly no creasing or caking or flaking or anything else - just very very light lines around my moth .... I just tend to smile too often....^^ So this fact definitely makes it one of the best foundations I've used in some time - good coverage without creasing and caking - and it's not even a high end product! Besides it feels good to my skin resp. I can't feel it anymore after some time, it doesn't feel sticky or drying out or anything else....and although I've never had much problems with that, I should maybe add, that there is also no strange skin reaction to that foundation. Definitely a product I would buy again. | | Thursday, January 15th, 2009 | | 12:29 pm |
Oh Scarlett, Bettie, Dita.....let me kiss your stockings
Examination weeks at the moment, so I have a pretty hard time keeping myself away from anything that is not univiersity-related, since even the most boring things get pretty fascinating after studying tons of theoretical stuff....^^ But anyways, my creative mind is not to stop from producing ideas for me and so I find myself more and more drawn to the whole burlesque and vintage thing. Of course this comes with it being "modern" nowadays, so I came across that topic as well, started to watch videos of it, reading about it, looking at old photographs - and I'm quite fascinated. Since I'm living my life with some kind of "fetish attitude" and feel very comfortable in the fetish scene, it's nothing innovative for me, that beeing fully dressed (..or..kinda..^^) is most of the time offering more erotic than simple nakedness. From this point of view, or, let's say: from MY point of view, burlesque is the older version of, what nowadays counts as "fetish show". I'm not really the person for beeing on of those beautiful and always nice and perfect vintage beauties (since I could never give up my fascination for all the morbid stuff^^) but nonetheless I'm fascinated and I see myself already doing pics which will be at least burlesque-related - if I can do that....also possible that you won't notice the vintage element in it,because I'll put my own spin on it but....still I'm glad, superglad to have more or less re-discovered a world that is full, so full of inspiring moments for me. |
